Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who lived somewhere in Geneva, Switzerland around the 1800's. He wanted to be a famous scientist like his professors. He wanted to bring life to a body so he used, science, alchemy and electricity to create a creature that came alive. I was a monster. It followed Victor across countries because it wants Victor create him mate that was like him. Victor refused because he already felt guilty about bringing one master to life. He was afraid they would go on rage together, holding hands.
Victors mother and sister became sick with scarlet fever and his mom died. Hs brother was murdered by strangulation at the hands of Frankenstein. The maid was named for this and sent to the gallows, willingly. This is an example about how bad the justice system was back then and that common laborers were often punished without a trail.
The French and English Revolutionary war had just ended when Mary Shelly wrote this. The English had control of the high seas. In the story Victor takes off and heads to the Arctic Circle to hide from his monster. This is where he is found, exhausted and dehydrated.
